Artist

Kat Cervantes is a first-generation Mexican-American Chicana artist of Purépecha descent and the visionary of Plantitas en Barro. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she moved to San Francisco for college, initially studying Environmental Studies before switching to Fine Art with a focus on Art Education at San Francisco State University. As the first in her family to earn a four-year college degree, she has explored various art forms, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, and conceptual information arts.

Her work delves into ceremonial themes through plant/mycology connections, ancestral reconnection, and the pursuit of collective liberation. Her art embodies the intertwined spirit of resilience and resistance, navigating paths of healing and defiance.
